At this point you have already submitted your topic and you should be ready to start researching more seriously. You should have approximately 10 sources on your working bibliography. Now, you should begin reading those sources carefully. You are reading those sources to gain a greater understanding of your topic and also to guide you toward your thesis statement/argument/angle. After you finish reading through those 10 sources, you should: 1. write a preliminary draft of a thesis statement 2. edit your research questions 3. begin the note card process.
Suggested Timeline:
Aim to finish your reading of the preliminary 10 sources by Wednesday, 12/3.
Aim to write a preliminary thesis and update your research questions by Thursday, 12/4.
Aim to begin the note card process by Friday, 12/5.

At this point you should have begun the research process and should be narrowing in on the topic you'd like to explore for your paper. Reminder: your topic proposal is due next Tuesday. You must have Ms. Mac and either Ms. Walsh or Ms. Cora sign off on your topic. Once you are all set with that, you should consider compiling a Working Bibliography and a list of Research Questions that will focus your research.
